How to increase sales through an intelligent responsive design based on a UX / UI usability study

1Genei - The intelligent price-comparison portal

Genei is a courier services comparator that works with the main transportation companies in the market.

Thanks to a CRO study and a usability study, we proposed a redesign of its website, including the search engine, through which Genei was able to increase its transactions and exceed its profitability and sales volume objectives.

2Challenge - Increase transactions by improving UX / UI

Genei’s website posed, among other challenges, a poor accessibility, especially in mobile devices,

although the analytics indicated that a large part of its traffic came from mobile devices. This led us to propose a very mobile-oriented design from the beginning, that would present all the actions on the site in a more fluid and intuitive way.

The search engine, the most important part of the web, presented a confusing interpretation, which is why we consider a restructuring and redesign to be of vital importance, achieving a more friendly appearance.

Genei was losing sales opportunities mainly due to a convoluted purchase process, which added to a complex user area without a level of design comparable to the rest of the web, that played against us when it came to making the user fall in love at the key moment of the conversion.

3Strategy - analysis and redesign

Our process begins by collecting data and information about the problem transmitted. With analysis and testing tools, we develop an effective solution to the inconveniences related to navigation.

We simplified the main navigation menu options, relocating the top-bar and footer in those pages used by regular users by recurring users, rewarding new users with a clearer and less congested navigation.

We clarified the design of the purchasing fases and user area by grouping different fases together, thus decongesting the process for collecting user information.

A cleaner design subject to current trends, provides the clarity and cleanliness that every registration process needs, making its completion less tedious.

To accompany the restructuring of content, we developed a new graphic system to facilitate navigation and usability.

A new logo and the choice of more readable typographies together with a system of colors, icons and more intuitive and usable graphic elements allows for a fluid communication of the information.

Intelligent Responsive Design

Intelligent Responsive Design, not only adapts the contents to be correctly visualized from mobile devices, but also makes modifications in the type of contents to adapt correctly to this type of devices, showing a different version depending on the type of elements that are visualized on each device.

4Results - Improvement in web traffic and transactions

By working on concrete data from the usability study carried out and with the information of web analytics tools, we were able to develop a design strategy based on an intelligent responsive layout, aimed at improving the navigation and conversion results of the web.

With the new content restructuring and multi-platform usability improvements we managed to reduce the load time by 8 seconds, significantly improving the organic traffic of the web, with an increase of 30% of recurring users, and a 22% decrease in the percentage of bounce of users of the page and thus, finally obtain more than a 50% increase in the conversion rate to sale of Genei.
